Amy Rhone, Principal
Amy Rhone has been dedicated to working with kids and families for the past 15 years. After receiving her BA in Family Science from the University
of Nebraska, Mrs. Rhone spent the next 8 years working with foster and adoption families. Her experience includes teaching in a variety of settings;
from adult education through preschool. In 2004 she joined Pointe Schools as a first grade teacher at Canyon Pointe Academy. With a genuine
concern for not only her classroom but the entire school community, she quickly became an effective, compassionate school leader. Frequently
called upon to lead committees and projects, she eventually was asked to become the vice principal. In 2007, Mrs. Rhone was named Canyon
Pointe’s principal, where she serves today. She remains committed to providing students with an outstanding academic foundation that includes
activities and opportunities to enrich the elementary school experience. In addition to her BA, she holds an MAEd in Elementary Education.

During the school year, Administration, Faculty, and Staff will respond to an email by the end of the next school day unless the individual is absent or the school is on break. Prior to contacting administration regarding a classroom question or concern, parents must first contact the teacher. In the unfortunate event that a concern can not be resolved to the parent's satisfaction the administration's decision is final. |
Suzanne Smailagic, Vice Principal
Suzanne Smailagic's love for learning is contagious. Over the years she has shared this love of learning with 7th through 12th grade students while
teaching Government, Economics, Advanced Placement American History, Film Studies, and Current Events. Mrs. Smailagic joined Pointe Schools
in 2007 and quickly established herself as a leader, becoming sophomore class sponsor and the Prep’s Social Studies Department Chair. Mrs.
Smailagic credits the solid academic foundation she received at Alhambra Traditional School for igniting her passion for learning. “I an a huge fan
of the Spalding method, traditional education, and utilizing research based, data driven instruction to ensure that all students have a strong
academic base.” Although she has taught both junior high and high school,this is her first opportunity to work in the elementary setting. Mrs.
Smailagic has a Bachelor of Arts in Education, History from Arizona State University and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Grand Canyon University.
